Some people asked me how can they try to become a BIM Modeler and what should they learn & study?
If you have the same questions as to them I am very pleased to help you from here.....
Firstly I would like to give you some suggestions. To become a BIM Modeler need some requirements, these are you might have to know how to use Autocad, Revit, and might have a bit knowledge for the Navisworks. If you are familiar with the Autocad you should start with REVIT Software. For REVIT, the best Guide Book is the Autodesk Revit User Guide book. Why I ask you to start from REVIT? You can download REVIT Student Version because this is free and no need to pay any charges.
Revit software has 3 disciplines and as you know these are Architecture, Structure & MEP. You will get more chances when you apply for work if you are familiar with these 3 disciplines. Then I have listed some essentials stuffs for BIM Modeler. These are:
1) File Extension 2) Templates 3) Project Set-Up (How to place Project base point, Survey point, Boundary Line, Property Line, Project Orientation) 4) Grid Line Tool, Level Tool 5) How to use Link CAD Tool & Link Revit Tool 6) View Templates 7) Browser Organization 8) Shared Parameters 9) Room 10) Spaces 11) Phase Filter 12) Scope Box 13) Section Box 14) Annotation 15) Key Note 16) Design Options 17) How to create a Central Model 18) How to use Worksets when we work with Central Model 19) Combined Services Drawing (CSD) 20) How to generate Shop Drawings 21) How to create Sheets 22) How to create Sections, Elevations, 3D 23) Export to PDF, Autocad, DWFX, Navisworks, IFC
These are the essential stuff for every BIM Modeler might have to know. But don't worry Revit is easier than AutoCAD and you can get it when you are really interested. I hope my suggestions can work for you. If you have any questions you can contact me anytime and I'll try to get back to you as soon as possible. Thank you and have a nice day dear!
